Vivo is known to be diligent in spawning innovations in mobile products, such as gimbal cameras in the X50 Pro, or pop-up cameras and on-screen fingerprint scanners on Apex series concept phones.
This smartphone vendor has nine R&D centers spread across a number of countries, each with a development focus on specific technology areas. The research centers are located in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Nanjing, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Taipei, Tokyo (Japan), and San Diego in the United States.
Vivo's R&D centers in Dongguan and Shanghai, China, develop hardware technologies, while R&D centers in Shenzhen, Beijing, and Hangzhou -also in China - are based in software development, internet technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
Together with other R&D centers in Taipei, Taiwan, research centers in Shenzhen and Beijing also handle the development of communication technology.
Then, research centers in San Diego, the United States, and Tokyo, Japan, developed digital imaging, including camera innovations.
Vivo Indonesia Senior Brand Director Edy Kusuma said that, to support its development as a technology brand, Vivo continues to invest in vivo's independent R&D capabilities in various countries. The presence of R&D centers in these countries, according to Vivo, demonstrates its efforts to continue to deliver the latest technology for consumers, as well as a commitment as a globally oriented technology company.
In addition to technology research and development, Vivo plans to strengthen its production base in several countries. Vivo currently has five manufacturing centers, including licensed manufacturing centers in China, South Asia, and Indonesia.
In May 2020, Vivo also began building a new office in Bao'an district, Shenzhen city, China. The building, which is expected to be completed by 2025, will accommodate 5,800 workers, as well as hosting Vivo's new flagship store.
By providing a complete, comfortable, spacious work environment, and supported by various facilities for employees, Vivo hopes to better maintain consumer satisfaction.
